Re: Grid tie voltage? AC or DC?

Thu, 01/12/2017 - 21:22
Moderators, let me know if you want this to be moved to the Hydro forum

Hi Warpspeed

How did you know that was going to be my next question?  I have been trying to understand the relationship between horsepower, watts and torque in layman's terms.  I h...

I believe i suggested the 1,2,4,8,16 resistor method several years ago.

you can use software to adjust for the non ideal resistors and pwm the lowest resistor, or you can add hysteresis and just ignore the error.

its unclear to me if his mention of mp...

It's how every engineer would like to design things, in a carefully controlled environment. You pretty much need to start with a virgin system and design the house around it. Funny how he wants to heat with MPPT, but regards it as useless when charging...

Keep at it Dave,
You usually start out with only two solid pieces of information, the amount of required electrical power, and the flow velocity of the river.
Its then a case of designing a mechanical system of sufficient size (and specification) to do...

Re: 12Vdc solar security system w multiple devices & some lower voltage LED's

If you are going to tear things up, I would put the two lamp assemblies in series. This will gain some efficiency in the inverter and prevent problems in load sharing between the lamps. Stay well under 1A with those little inverters regardless of what ...

Thanks to all of you guys,

I will definitely need to revisit this topic as I get closer to completion.

As it is right now I felt I needed to do some more reading...I was just guessing on things like rotor size, wire gauge, gear ratio, etc...I decided...

I thought it best to bypass the Li battery all together and use the 2596 to regulate the voltage and  current coming from the 12Vdc battery that the panel is charging.
(There are 2 -  36 LED Lights @ 3.2 volts EACH.    I want to direct wire both from o...

Re: LITHIUM BATTERY TESTING WITH A UNO

Thu, 01/12/2017 - 08:39
I think it is a nice all in one board limited to about 1 1/2 amp and current is selected by resistor. If it ever breaks it can never be fixed. It seems like a fully acceptable option and quite accurate at low currents. It can be used up to 15V, cut out...

Re: 12Vdc solar security system w multiple devices & some lower voltage LED's

I use the 2596 for LED applications. Connecting it to a Li battery and still using the devices own solar panel is an issue.  Li batteries need specific charging routines like those found in a TP4056 board ($.40).  However, if the 2596 was set to a volt...

I have been through so many of the boards here (searched and read through) looking for some similarity to my situation.  My property is vacant months at a time.  There is no power to a distant part of it.  I want to set up some type of Solar security s...

How well did this do against your UNO tester?

just a on going hobby with me....its a 20-15  3 phase alt..coils two in hand #17 wire..hit 400 watts at  28v ..briefly ! Using a 400 watt aircraft landing light..coils are mounted to a iron band..with iron inserts in the coil holes...mags are ceramic ....

Nice device. I guess you used iron in your coils and can you tell something about that?

Re: 48V alternator (ICE driven)

I was looking at DC-DC converters on Ebay, and I noticed encapsulated golf cart 48v to 12v converters, 10A & 30A.  For around $14 bucks, you can get the 48v to 12v 10A converter and run your field coil off this converter using your 48v battery bank.  T...

          ZB2L3 Battery Tester

This is a nice little battery tester I received today.  Just wanted to show you I'm not
married to the UNO. Every thing you want to build can be bought cheaper in CHINA.  Features
are limited to 15V maximum and 3A. 3A i...
