Hugh Piggott 2004 Thursday

Thursday... bits coming together

Things are coming together now. We (they) got a lot of work done on Wednesday, but there is still a huge amount of work to do... lots of little odd projects that need to be completed in order to reach the goal of two completed machines.

As you can see here, the blade progress is coming along very nicely. The blade seen is almost good to go.

Here, DanB does some grinding on one of the frames...

Here the stator for the 12' machine comes out of the mold... looks very nice.

Laying out the reinforcement plates for the smaller 8' machine...

Here we see Jeff doing some grinding. Jeff is an awful nice guy form Wyoming. If you ever fall off a ski lift up there, you might not want to stand under his windmill.

Oddly enough, it wasn't untill Thursday that I got a complete view of the shop at/in which we were working. The fella that owns it used to build boats. He's also the guy who owns and runs the general store, which is where the windturbine we took down on Monday is now flying.

Here we get to see DanF doing some welding... Perhaps on the tail for the smaller machine. That was cause for some frustration... but it got sorted out and seemed to be fine.

That was about it for shop work on Thursday, but the casual seminar later that night was presented by the Dans... DanF and DanB. THat was fun...

The red and black generator is actually the one we've been working on most recently, and it is to go at my house. I can't wait.

After the Dans did their thing, Jerry Howell for The Audio Source did a short talk. He's got a dozen or more windmills flying on top of his shop...pretty cool.

And, be sure to check out our book Homebrew Wind Power for more small wind power information!
